As a Solutions (Sales) Engineer at Torch.AI, you will bridge the gap between our product capabilities and customer mission needs. This role plays a key part in pre-sales activities, pilot deployments, and technical enablement, ensuring that Torch.AI demonstrations, workshops, and solutions align with real operational needs of the customer. You’ll collaborate directly with engineering teams to understand what’s possible today, tailor configurations for roadshows and pilots, and help shape future delivery through structured feedback.

Your day-to-day will consist of engaging with current and prospective customers to help accelerate adoption of the Torch.AI platform. You'll partner with our sales teams and account leads to identify areas of opportunity based on customer mission needs before you take lead on designing and deploying software capabilities which demonstrate those possibilities to our customers.

Responsibilities
- Partner with engineering teams to understand platform capabilities across our Python- and Java-based solutions.
- Write code to configure existing platform capabilities and experiment with new capability demonstrations which align to customer mission needs, in coordination with account-based engineering teams.
- Travel domestically (10–20%) for customer demos, workshops, roadshows, and pilot setup/support.
- Support both existing accounts and new business efforts by articulating the technical value and fit of our offerings.
- Contribute to documentation of configurations, workflows, and solution packaging for internal and customer reuse.
- Participate in pilot deployments to help ensure smooth setup, customer onboarding, and early adoption of capabilities.
- Assist in scoping and feasibility reviews for new use cases, integrations, and delivery plans.
- Gather, document, and relay customer feedback, technical requirements, and deployment constraints to internal teams.
- Lead and support technical briefings, product demonstrations, and hands-on customer workshops—translating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders while facilitating real-time capability demonstrations.
- Collaborate with DevOps and software engineers to deploy and support demo environments, sandbox instances, and/or pilot systems.
- Configure, demo, and present “lite” technical solutions tailored to specific customer workflows, mission needs, or use case scenarios.
What We Value
- B.S. degree in Computer Science, Technology, Engineering, or a relevant field.
- 6-8+ years in a solutions engineering, technical pre-sales, systems integration, or customer-facing engineering role.
- Strong hands-on experience with both Python and Java—capable of configuring, debugging, and discussing code in either language.
- Creativity to quickly and effectively build and deploy software which demonstrates new and existing product capabilities to prospective customers.
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs, software deployment patterns, and modern web application architectures.
- Ability to configure and troubleshoot deployments using tools like Docker, Git, and CI/CD workflows.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills; comfort presenting to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proven experience documenting customer requirements, writing technical briefs, and managing configuration handoffs.
- Industry experience, preferably within the defense industry and/or intelligence community or related sectors, a plus.
- Ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams.
- Awareness of ethical considerations and responsible AI practices.
- Understanding of AI/ML-powered platforms, data processing pipelines, or secure cloud deployments (not required, nice to have).
- Familiarity with secure or classified cloud environments (e.g., C2S, SC2S, AC2SP) (not required, nice to have).
- Prior experience with demo system orchestration, field-based technical enablement, or early-phase pilot support (not required, nice to have).
Security Clearance
We are hiring for multiple positions for each role. Some roles require a Secret, Top Secret, or Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance on Day 1. Work Location
We are hiring for roles at our headquarters in Leawood, KS and remotely in the Arlington, VA region. Candidates in the Arlington, VA region may work remotely while not on customer site. Candidates in the Leawood, KS region may require some limited travel to customer sites (<10% depending on role).

- Torch.AI offers a 401k plan through John Hancock. While the company does not offer employee matching, we offer 3% profit sharing for all employees who elect to participate in the 401k plan. Profit sharing is calculated based on company performance at the end of each calendar year and distributed to 401k accounts at the start of each calendar year.
